  Course Syllabus

Progression Days will start at 9.30am with the following syllabus (breaks will be given between lessons):
bullet Introduction to the BPA Operations Manual
bullet Jumpmaster Responsibilities
bullet Spotting Techniques
bullet Flight Line Checking
bullet Canopy Handling Grade 1 Theory (if required)
bullet Canopy Handling Grade 2 Theory
bullet Canopy Handling Grade 1 and 2 Exams (if required)
Jumping will take place, weather permitting, as soon as the sufficient theory has been covered to allow us to complete the following practical exercises:
bullet Practical spotting
bullet CH1 - 3x descents showing canopy range assessment/control and flat turns
bullet CH2 - 3x descents showing use of risers as an avoidance manoeuvre and increasing the range of the canopy using risers
bullet CH2 - 5 out of 10 descents showing pre-declared, safe landings within a 30m landing area

Note: Practical jumping exercises may be combined, for example, practical spotting and a CH1/2 descent on one jump, or use of risers and a pre-declared landing for CH2 - making it cheaper for you!

  Learn to Skydive Safely

Tracking dock over Hibaldstow - Skydive Hibaldstow

We pride ourselves at Skydive Hibaldstow for having an excellent record of safety and training. This is not by accident, its because we actively encourage all our students to do extra voluntary courses concentrating on parachuting and skydiving safety.

The B-License progression day is one of those. Have you ever wondered how to spot an aircraft correctly in high winds? What would you do if you are on your first 28-way formation skydive and there are lots of open canopies in the air. Find out more on this course...

  B-Licence Progression Days

The aim of the "B-Licence progression days" is to enable those wishing to gain their CH1, CH2 or JM1 qualifications to do so in a short, concentrated, period of time. The theory lectures and briefings can easily be covered during a single day, avoiding having to wait for briefs to be given, often only one a day, on a busy weekend.

Given the weather, we can then also continue to complete the practical jumping requirements for CH1 (canopy control), CH2 (further canopy control) and JM1 (practical spotting techniques).

Progression Days will usually be run mid-week (when the centre is at its quietest) to enable us to concentrate on fulfilling all theory requirements necessary for the BPA B-Licence.

Next course: Thursday, 19th February 2009

  Testimonials

Kath Rybinski

"I thought it was a really good way of getting all the briefs in one go. You do not have to wait for bad weather so that an instructor becomes available to teach you. It covered everything I needed to know. Very good."

Jack Waltham

"Extremely informative. The course was well laid out. Combining the different aspects of the course saved me lots of time which would have been spent learning the skills separately. Our chief centre instructor Paul Hollow taught the course and I learned so much. There were good practical demonstrations to test your skills".

Chris Prideaux

"I did the course before I qualified in AFF. I enjoyed and understood the course. I found the knowledge was exactly what it said on the tin. The canopy flying exercises were very helpful."

Sarah Otter

"The course was split between H and Lee Pugh giving different lessons during the day. The course was really thorough. They gave me more information than I would have learned on other courses at other centres."

Davina Sandberg

"The course was quite long and tiring, however it was really thorough. When doing check-outs on my equipment, I have a much better understanding of what to look for."

How to Book & General Information
  Booking

You can either email or phone the centre (01652 648837) for information on the arranged days or to book yourself in.

Places are limited, please book early to reserve your place on the course.

Who Should Attend?
The majority of the Progression Day is aimed at those working towards their BPA B-Licence, so anyone currently with an A-Licence should attend and students who have almost completed their student progression (AFF students - once you have been cleared for consolidation jumps; RAPS students - once you have been cleared for 15 second delays) as you will soon be working towards your B-Licence! The course is also open to those who may want to brush up on their theory or who may only need one or two of the briefs, or maybe just the practical exercises, to complete their B-Licence training.

The days we have already run have worked well as each theory brief can be easily referenced back to briefs given earlier in the day, allowing a clearer understanding of how they interact with each other and a good picture of the issues involved.

Course Cost
The day of theory briefings will only cost £10 per person, which covers the Instructor's time for the day. Jump prices for the practical element of the day will be at a discounted rate for those on the Progression Day (depending on the aircraft we use).
